Getting started
How Wins works out your numbers
Where costs, margins and profit come from, and how they get more accurate.
Everything starts with a sensible default, and gets more exact as you use it. You never have to set anything up first.
Cost of each menu item
- When an item arrives from Yoco, Wins writes a likely recipe for it (what goes in, how much) with typical South African prices.
- When you upload slips and invoices, the prices you really pay replace those estimates: an average over the last 90 days.
- When you check or change a recipe, your version is used from then on.
Margin and food cost
Margin is the selling price minus the cost to make it. Food cost is the cost as a percentage of the price. Items above your target (30% unless you change it in Settings › Store) are flagged.
Profit
Sales come from Yoco. Food cost is what you bought on slips and invoices (or, before any slips, what the recipes say was used). Running costs (rent, wages, electricity, fees) come from your bank statements. Profit is sales minus both.
